There have been some revolutionary minds in the tech world. Some you have definetly heard of. Linus Torvalds, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs. But what about others like Matt Mullenweg, Craig Newmark, Markus Frind. These are three folks I’d like to individually profile as revolutionaries within their industries. Matt Mullenweg was just a young guy who really changed the entire publishing industry by organizing what I call a publishing revolution around an open source tool. An open source tool that runs millions of websites on the internet. Craig Newmark likewise effected the publishing industry nearly as much as Matt Mullenweg. But who I’d really like to talk about for a few minutes is Markus Frind. I’m sure lots of people within the webmaster community has heard of him. But have you ever thought for a moment about what he is doing.
Markus Frind, CEO of Plenty of Fish has single handedly taken on the entire online dating industry. He single handedly out of his home taken on megacorporations like Yahoo, and AOL and others who have long dominated the online dating scene. His Drive is what made the difference. In the last post I talked about drive. In this post I want to talk about vision. Markus has incredible vision. It’s well beyond 20/20. It’s a vision that allows him to believe that he has what it takes to succeed in changing the economics of big business, the operations of big business, and the culture of his industry.
Again I challenge you. Do you have that vision? Do you have the drive that is neccesary to do something with that vision. Do you believe in yourself enough to capture that vision, motivate your inner fire to activate the drive and succeed? Markus does. Bill Gates did. Matt Mullenweg did. Craig Newmark did. Steve Jobs did. What about you? Do you have what it takes to show up and take your vision and do something with it? That is what it takes to succeed.
Do you find yourself doubting yourself? Don’t worry we’ve all been there. Take a moment to become refreshed. Go for a walk. Step away from what you are doing and find your passion again. Believe in yourself when no one else does. Reach deep within find the fire that once burned so bright inside you. If you find you no longer believe in your ideas don’t be afraid to walk away. The surest sign of a great success is a proven failure. But remember your failures and learn from them. Allow them to make you stronger.
Return to sacred ground that makes you happy and follow your heart to your next success. One that will make you happy and bring joy to those around you. You too can be the next visionary. You too can be everything you have ever dreamed of. You just have to create it. Create that vision. Do it now.
