When I think about what kind of blogging I was doing 10 years ago. That’s right thats about when I started blogging. It was largely personal. Today I don’t really blog, as far as personal journaling goes. But I do Twitter. Yet I still see a huge role that blogs, or the blogging platform has filled and will continue to fill in the publishing space. Not only today but for years to come.
In a new article in Business Week, Eric Case, Blogger.com product manager for Google talks about the Twitterization of Blogs.
“Blogs that tend to get a lot of press are the ones that draw a lot of traffic and get people fired up, but that is a very small, narrow, niche-use case,” says Eric Case, product manager for Google’s Blogger hosting service. Meanwhile, he says, the concept of blogging is already evolving. “This thing we understood as blogging is vanishing and it is reframing as people develop new ways of posting and sharing things.”
While I think blogs will continue to evolve. I like Twitter and I see it as a realistically good platform for personal communication. And I see blogs as a continually evolving platform for not only personal publishing but also commercial, niche, and business publishing.
