Disclaimer: I really don’t like Arrington although I admire him for his hard work ethic and strong established site in his industry. I do think he’s an asshole who doesn’t know shit about many of the things I enjoy like good design.
Now that I have that underway I’m going to teach you how to become the Mike Arrington of your Niche. First off it really is very simple. You might ask why I’m not doing it and privately behind the scenes I believe I’m well on my way to conquering the niche I choose to conquer.
First, What is YOUR niche?
I’d recommend a niche that is something you are passionate about.
Second, Are you prepared to work hard for nothing?
It’s really a question you have to ask yourself. Are you willing to work hard and you might never see a return on your investment.
Third, Do you have a personal site?
Even back in 2005 pre Crunch days Mike Arrington was blogging away the same stuff that we’d expect any nobody to blog about.
Ok, now that we have those questions out of the way let’s get started. Write about what you are passionate about every day 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. Never look in the rear view mirror. Buy links, network like crazy, and never turn anyone down for an interview. Seek out opportunities to guest blog on sites within your niche. Review every single site in your niche. Create an index of all the sites in your niche. Wash repeat rinse for about a year and without fail you should be the next Mike Arrington of your niche. Guaranteed.

Yeah, now that I’m actually building a site I realize that it takes a whole bunch more work than most folks realize, but I guess deep down we do it because we love it, and that keeps us going. Or maybe we’re just dreamers who believe in ourselves and our vision. It’s also a little addictive, seeing if you can make the site grow and how quickly.
I’m really looking forward to seeing it through for a year at least. I can’t wait to see what the outcome is. At the very least, it’s a learning experience. And it’s fun too

In my personal opinion a celebrity blog is like a vulture. It will eat you.
